How to Choose Exterior Wall Cladding
An exterior cladding inquiry fails when an interior photo is sent as a facade specification. Sun, rain, freeze-thaw, salt and dust destroy the wrong core. The first sentence of the brief must be city and orientation, not colour.

What we will discuss first
- Climate (Gulf heat and dust is not Melbourne rain)
- Wall orientation and whether it is a rainscreen or an adhesive skin
- Substrate and height / access
- Fire strategy if the occupancy needs it
- Whether the look is mineral, brick or wood
MCM is usually the first mineral facade conversation. Flexible stone and flexible brick only as a named exterior series with sealer. Exterior-rated PU only when a UV file exists. Interior WPC flutes, UV marble, PET and decorative 3D polymer stay inside.
What we will not stamp “outdoor”
- A lifestyle photo of an interior board on a courtyard
- A printed sandstone film facing west in a desert city
- A generic category page that says “indoor/outdoor”
If we have no series for that climate, we say so. We would rather lose the line than replace a faded wall in year two.
Process
- City, elevation photo, indoor vs outdoor marked on a simple plan.
- We name the exterior-capable series only.
- Mockup on the actual substrate for public-facing work.
