Flexible Stone Installation
How to Install Flexible Stone Panels
A project-ready installation sequence covering material checks, substrate preparation, layout, bonding, finishing and final inspection.

Overview
Flexible stone is installed as a thin decorative cladding system. A successful result depends on the complete assembly—not the panel alone—so approval should cover the substrate, primer where required, adhesive, joint treatment and any sealer before full installation.
Key steps
01
Confirm the approved material
Check the product code, finish, batch, quantity and installation instructions. Acclimatize or condition the panels only when the supplied instructions call for it.
02
Inspect and prepare the substrate
The receiving surface should be stable, sound, clean and sufficiently even for the selected thin cladding. Resolve moisture, movement and contamination before bonding.
03
Approve a site mock-up
Build a representative test area using the proposed substrate, adhesive, joints and finish. Use it to approve appearance, bond and workmanship.
04
Plan the layout
Dry-lay or mark the elevation, distribute visual variation and coordinate edges, openings, corners and joint locations before applying adhesive.
05
Apply the specified adhesive
Use the adhesive and application method approved for the exact panel, substrate and exposure. Observe open time, coverage and curing instructions.
06
Place, press and finish
Install to the approved layout, apply even pressure and remove adhesive residue promptly. Complete joints, corners and sealers only as specified.
07
Inspect and protect the work
Check alignment, adhesion, edges and finish under agreed lighting. Protect completed areas from traffic, impact and moisture until the system has cured.
Before installation starts
Confirm actual site dimensions, substrate condition, access, storage and the installation-zone environment. Mix panels from approved batches where natural-looking variation is part of the selected finish. Do not start production areas until the mock-up has been accepted.
Project responsibility
This guide explains a general workflow and does not replace the product data sheet, adhesive supplier instructions, substrate assessment or local building requirements. The project team remains responsible for approving the complete assembly.
Frequently asked questions
Can flexible stone be installed over existing finishes?
Sometimes, but only after the existing finish is assessed for stability, bond, flatness, contamination and moisture. A site mock-up and compatible adhesive system are essential.
Is one installation method suitable for every flexible stone panel?
No. Panel composition, backing, size, substrate and exposure can change the required primer, adhesive, tools and finishing method.
