The common installation problems — lifting edges, hollow spots, visible joints, colour mismatch — what causes them and how to put them right.
Overview
Most flexible stone problems trace back to one of four causes: an unprepared substrate, the wrong adhesive, rushed pressing, or panels from mixed batches. Almost all of them are preventable — and many are repairable without stripping the wall. Diagnose the cause before repairing, or the same fault returns.
Lifting or curling edges
Usually insufficient adhesive coverage at the perimeter, dust on the substrate, or pressing that missed the edge zone. Re-bond by working compatible adhesive under the edge, pressing with a roller and taping until cured. If edges lift across the whole wall, coverage or substrate preparation failed and the affected panels need re-setting.
Hollow spots behind the panel
Tap-test after curing. Isolated small hollows on interior walls are often tolerable; large or clustered hollows mean the adhesive was combed unevenly or skinned over before pressing. Cut out and re-set panels over large voids rather than injecting blindly.
Adhesive on the face
Wipe fresh adhesive immediately with the cleaner specified for the system; cured smears need careful mechanical removal tested on an offcut first. Prevent it by loading the trowel away from the face and keeping hands clean.
Chipped or ragged cut edges
Caused by dull blades, cutting from the wrong face or unsupported sheets. Recut with a fresh blade against a straightedge, cutting into the face; hide minor raggedness inside corners, trims or joints.
Colour or texture mismatch between panels
Composite finishes vary slightly between production batches. Order each area from one batch, dry-lay and shuffle panels before bonding, and keep batch labels until handover. A mismatch discovered after bonding can only be fixed by replacing panels from the correct batch.

Yes — score the joints, warm and peel the damaged panel, clean the residue and bond a replacement from the same batch. Keeping spare panels from the original order makes this straightforward.
